ABOUT

About the Studio

Welcome to Mellynism.

If you had told me a few years ago that I would one day spend my days covered in clay, carefully painting ceramics and building my own creative studio, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

Mellynism wasn't something I had planned. It found me.

During the pandemic, I picked up clay simply because I wanted to make something with my hands. There was no business plan, no five-year vision and certainly no expectation that it would become such an important part of my life. I was simply curious.

That curiosity quickly became an obsession in the best possible way.

I couldn't stop making. Every piece taught me something new. Every finished object made me excited to start another. I found myself thinking about shapes, colours and ideas throughout the day, constantly imagining what I wanted to create next.

Without realising it, creating had become part of who I am.

What started quietly at my kitchen table slowly turned into something much bigger. Family and friends encouraged me to keep going, and after sharing my work online, complete strangers began asking if they could buy it. Their belief in my work gave me the confidence to believe in it too.

That's how Mellynism was born.

Not from a business idea.

From falling completely in love with making.

My Story

I've always been drawn to beautiful things.

Not necessarily expensive things or perfect things, but objects with character. Things that feel like they've been discovered rather than bought. The kind of pieces that make a home feel personal because they tell a story.

I notice details everywhere.

The shape of a shell collected during a walk. The soft curves of flower petals. An antique frame in a little vintage shop. The faded colours inside an old book. A ribbon wrapped around a bouquet. The decorative details in historic buildings.

Sometimes inspiration arrives in obvious ways, but more often it's something small that quietly stays with me until it finds its place in a piece weeks later.

I don't sit down with the intention of following trends.

I create what I genuinely love.

And somehow the collections slowly begin to tell the same story.

A story filled with soft shapes, sculptural silhouettes, hand-painted details and little imperfections that remind you someone actually made them.

That has always been the heart of Mellynism.

Not perfection.

Personality.

My World

Although ceramics are where everything began, they were never meant to be the destination.

When I dream about Mellynism, I don't imagine shelves filled with only mugs or vases.

I imagine an entire world.

A home where every object feels like it belongs together.

Ceramic lamps casting a warm evening glow.

Decorative wall pieces that feel almost sculptural.

Jewellery that carries the same playful elegance as a favourite vase.

Objects collected over time instead of bought all at once.

Pieces that become part of everyday rituals without ever feeling ordinary.

That's what excites me most.

I want Mellynism to keep growing naturally, exploring new materials, new collections and new ideas while staying true to the feeling that started it all.

Everything I make should feel as though it came from the same hands, the same imagination and the same little world.

The Process

Every piece starts long before clay touches the table.

Usually with a sketch. Sometimes with a flower lying beside my notebook. Sometimes after wandering through a museum, a botanical garden or a vintage market. Other times an idea appears completely unexpectedly while I'm making something else.

I never rush that part.

Ideas deserve time.

Once I'm ready, every object is shaped by hand. It moves through countless stages before it reaches its final form. There are hours of sculpting, refining, drying, sanding, glazing, firing and, for many pieces, carefully painting every tiny detail.

It's a slow process.

And honestly, that's exactly what I love about it.

Clay teaches patience. It doesn't care about deadlines.

Sometimes the kiln surprises me. Sometimes a glaze behaves differently than expected. Sometimes a tiny imperfection becomes the very thing that gives a piece its character.

I've learned not to fight those moments.

Handmade objects aren't beautiful because they're flawless.

They're beautiful because no two will ever be exactly alike.

Looking Ahead

Mellynism is still at the beginning of its story.

There are countless ideas waiting to be explored, collections waiting to be created and dreams that are still living inside sketchbooks.

I hope this studio continues to evolve into a place where craftsmanship, art and interior design naturally come together.

A place where ceramics live alongside lighting, decorative objects, jewellery and whatever else curiosity decides to bring into the world next.

I don't know exactly what Mellynism will look like in five or ten years.

And I like that.

The best parts of this journey have never been planned.

A Final Note

If you're here, thank you.

Whether you've been following my journey from the beginning, discovered my work through social media or simply stumbled across this little corner of the internet, I'm genuinely happy you're here.

Every order, every kind message and every person who chooses something handmade over something mass-produced makes it possible for me to keep creating.

That is something I never take for granted.

My hope is that the pieces leaving my studio become part of your home for years to come. Objects that are used, displayed, loved and perhaps one day passed on.

Because that's how I think beautiful things should live.

Thank you for being part of the story.

Welcome to Mellynism.
